Zamfara Assembly suspends Local Government Chairman for allegedly protecting bandits

The Zamfara State Assembly Chamber has suspended the President of Maradun local government, Alhaji Ahmad Abubakar, for working against security in the state.

The suspension was announced by the President of the Chamber, HE. Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya in a plenary session following a petition sent to the Assembly against the President of the council by six concerned citizens of the Maradun Local Government Area.

The petition was signed by Bello Abdullahi, Tsibiri District; Amiru Sa’idu, Kaya District; Musa Muhammad, district of Damage / Gamagiwa; Mu’awiya Sardauna, Faru district; Aliyu M-Sulaiman, Gora District and Bashiru Saleh, Gidangoga District.

The petitioners accused the President of encouraging armed bandits and notorious kidnappers to operate freely in the LGA, thus avoiding the peace efforts of the state government and not fulfilling their duties as head of local government security.

It was deduced that after discussing the matter, the legislators unanimously agreed the motion to suspend the President of the council.

The Chamber also suspended Alhaji Abubakar Rafi, district chief of Boko West in the emirate of Moriki, the local government area of ​​Zurmi.

The district chief was suspended after legislators accepted the recommendations of his joint Committee on Public Petitions, State Security, Local Government, and Headquarters Affairs.
