Ugwuanyi summons Gather with neighborhood watch groups

In support of the long-range decisions taken at Friday’s emergency security meeting in Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi convened a crucial meeting with all local Neighborhood Watch and Vigilance groups on Monday, August 5, 2019.

This follows the unfortunate death of the Parish Priest of St. James The Greater Parish, Ugbawka in the Nkanu East Local Government Area, Rev. Fr. Paul Offu.

In a statement from the Secretary of the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya said the meeting would take place at the Government House, Enugu, at 1 pm.

Prof. Ortuanya, who transmitted the sincere condolences of the state government to the family of Fr. Offu and the entire Catholic Diocese of Enugu, for the painful death, also notified the public about the air surveillance planned by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) along the axis The-Agbudu, Awgu, Aninri, Nkanu East Local Government Areas and its surroundings, as part of the measures approved at the meeting to improve state security.

The SSG, therefore, ordered the citizens of the State not to be frightened in the course of the exercise, which he says is aimed at fishing for criminal elements in the affected areas and beyond. In a related development, Governor Ugwuanyi praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Saturday for his contributions to the maintenance of peace and security in the State, especially the introduction of state air surveillance to improve government successes State in the fight against security. The governor, who spoke when he participated in the 10-km annual Walk / Jog for all the officers, aviators and aviators of the Nigerian Air Force in Enugu, stated that the exercise was designed to ensure that NAF personnel remain in the better position. The governor thanked the pleasant association/cooperation with security agencies in the State, adding that he has been mostly responsible for the great State of the State as one of the safest states in the country.

Governor Ugwuanyi, therefore, applauded the Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal S.B Abubakar, for maintaining the annual exercise and the laudable role of the NAF in fighting the insurgency and other security challenges in different parts of the country.

He also thanked and assured the Air Command Commander of the Ground Training Command, NAF, Enugu, the Vice Marshal of Air Idi Amin, for the continued support and assistance of the state government towards the success of the Command in particular and the Nigerian Air Force in general.

Responding, the Command thanked Governor Ugwuanyi and other guests for their solidarity and active participation in the event and maintained that “the event aims to assess the physical fitness and combat readiness of NAF personnel to ensure their willingness to face to the security challenges of our country. ”

Other dignitaries in the event include the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Suleiman Balarabe and the Director of the State, Department of State Services (DSS), Abimbola Linkinyo, etc.
