Tribunal rules in petition challenging re-election of Speaker Dogara

The Governorship, National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi State, on Friday, expelled a request documented by Dalhatu Abdulkadir of the All Progressives Congress (APC), testing the re-appointment of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

NAN reports that the APC and its hopeful, Dalhatu Abdulkadir, had on March 15, documented a request before the council testing the re-appointment of Yakubu Dogara of the PDP for Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency situate.

Conveying her decision, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, held that the applicant had neglected to document pre-preliminary notification and in this way, negated the arrangements of the Electoral Act 2010 as altered.

“As of recently, there is even no subsisting movement or application documented by the candidate before the court. “The main choice left to the court is to expel the request as there is nothing the council could clutch,” Abdulrahman held. Prior, Abdulkadir, through his guidance, D.G.Hassan, looked for augmentation of time.

In a related advancement, the Bauchi National/State Assembly Election Tribunal II additionally rejected an appeal documented by Yusuf Itas of the PDP, testing the race of Bashiru Mashema of the APC for Itas Gadau State Constituency situate.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice B. H. Tukur, decided that the candidate had would not approach the Tribunal for prehearing notice.

Tukur, in this way, said the activity by the candidate equivalent to the deserting of the appeal as the correctional would not permit augmentation of time.
