The Arewa Youth Advisory Forum, AYCF, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfill his promise to end banditry and assassinations across the country.

AYCF made the call in the context of the brutal murder of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of Afenifere.

In a statement made on Sunday by its national president, Shettima Yerima, the young Arewa called for the urgent arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the death of Olakunrin.

2.Kano guber: Over 700 witnesses lined up to testify before Tribunal

Over 700 witnesses have been enlisted to appear before the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal presided over by Justice Halima Shamnaki, to testify for and against APC and PDP as regards the March 2019 governorship election won by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Counsel to Governor Ganduje, the second respondent, Barrister Offiong Offiong (SAN), Saturday at a pre-hearing session held at Miller road High court complex, informed the tribunal that 203 witnesses have been assembled to testify before the tribunal in support of the election won by the incumbent governor.

According to him, the witnesses have undergone all the pre-requisite requirements laid down by the law that permits the witness to testify before the court.

The national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, urged caution on the labeling of Fulani herdsmen as responsible for the murder of the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the Ms. Funke Olakunrin.

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Rev Dr Samson Supo Ayokunle has condemned the murder of Mrs Funke Olakunri, daughter of the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in strong terms.

8.Election Petitions: Bulkachuwa Cancels Annual Vacation For Justices Of Appeal Court

The President of the Court of Appeals, Judge Zainab Bulkachuwa, canceled the annual vacation for judges of the Court of Appeals in 2019, according to a statement from the Media Officer of the Court of Appeals.

The head of the press, Saadatu Kachalla, quoted “the enormous requests facing the court” as the reason for the cancellation.

“As 2019 was an election year, it became obvious that we have to give up our annual vacation to allow us to receive and determine all appeals that arise from the various Electoral Petitions Courts transmitted to the Court,” Bulkachuwa said, citing the statement.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state on Sunday urged residents to plant trees to hold commemorative events to ensure safer and greener environments and save the planet from further destruction.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, made the call in the 2019 Tree Plantation campaign, organized by the Ministry of Environment of Lagos State in Iganmu, Lagos.

2. Buhari speaks on killing of Afenifere leader’s daughter, Funke by suspected herdsmen

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the murder of the daughter of the Afenifere leader, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin.

GISTOK reported that Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Ruben Fasoranti, was killed by armed men suspected of being Fulani pastors on Thursday.

The report quoted an eyewitness who said the 58-year-old woman died of gunshot wounds. According to the eyewitness, Olakunrin was shot by suspected Fulani herders at the Ore crossing in Ondo state on Friday.

But Ondo state police, on Friday night, said the thugs attacked the Benin-Sagamu Highway. Ondo State police spokeswoman Femi Joseph told GISTOK that other passengers were abducted during the incident, which occurred on Friday.

3. What Buhari told Armed Forces on Saturday

5. Obasanjo reacts to killing of Afenifere leader’s daughter by suspected herdsmen

The former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, described the murder of the daughter of the Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, deceased Mrs. Funke Olakunri, for alleged shepherds as a disturbing event for Nigeria.

On Saturday, Obasanjo said that Nigeria has been diminished by the assassination that occurred at a time when all well-meaning Nigerians preached tolerance and political adaptation in national politics.

We deplore this cowardly act and we take this opportunity to ask governments at all levels to leave no stone unturned to ensure that our security agents persecute and find energetically the perpetrators of such a heinous crime and make them face the full weight of the law.

GISTOK recalls that the incident was confirmed by the Afenifere Spokesperson, Mr. Yinka Odumakin in a statement.

He said that Ms. Olakunrin, 58, was killed by people suspected of being shepherds while on her way to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, where she was attacked and shot by her attackers. But the Ondo State Police Command refuted Odumakin’s claim, saying it was an armed robbery attack.

In addition, Buhari in his place said: “The leader of the Afenifere tribe, the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin was killed on the Ondo-Ore road by those qualified as thieves armed by the Police Command of I’m listening. ”

9 .Yoruba group gives Miyetti Allah 72-hour ultimatum to fish out killers of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter

A Southwestern group, the Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA) expressed its shock at the murder of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the President of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, for people suspected of being shepherds in the state of Ondo.

In a statement signed by its national president, Olalekan Hammed, the group gave the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) a three-day ultimatum to remove the perpetrators from the evil act.

GISTOK recalls that the assassination of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter was confirmed by the Afenifere spokesperson, Mr. Yinka Odumakin in a statement.

He said that Ms. Olakunrin, 58, was killed by people suspected of being shepherds while on her way to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, where she was attacked and shot by her attackers.

But the Ondo state police command refuted Odumakin’s claim, saying it was an armed robbery attack. However, YYSA said it would convene an emergency meeting on Saturday (today) to discuss the next line of action after the ultimatum to MACBAN.

Buhari approves new appointment




President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Captain Musa Nuhu as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Declare state of emergency on education – CLO tells Gov Emmanuel




The Civil Liberties Organization, a chapter of the state of Akwa Ibom, has asked Governor Udom Emmanuel to declare a state of emergency in the state’s education sector.

The president of CLO in the state, Franklyn Isong, said this in his office in Uyo, the state capital while informing journalists as part of activities to commemorate World Teachers’ Day with the theme “Young teachers: the future of the profession.”

He said the need became necessary to stop the serious decomposition of infrastructure and insecurity in state public schools.

Isong criticized the content of the education presentation recently organized by the state government, describing it as “urbanized” and not with the intention of capturing the deep crisis that was shaking the sector in the state.

He said: “It is worrisome and sad that most public schools in some communities in Akwa Ibom state are in ruins, insecure and left to the destiny of the communities without government attention.

“All that is needed is for the Governor to take bold steps by declaring a state of emergency in the education sector to build more classroom blocks in rural and urban schools, provide good infrastructure such as science equipment, libraries, laboratories, as well as review the education curriculum to ensure a better and safe future for children in the state of Akwa Ibom. ”

He thanked the state government for tameing the right to basic education of the Akwa Ibom child in free and compulsory education and urged the state government to do what is necessary.

“The right to basic education of all Nigerian children, as enshrined in the Child Rights Act of 2003 in Article 15 (1), had been tamed under the Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Act, to ensure that every child in the State of Akwa Ibom the right to compulsory, free and qualitative basic education. ”

Isong added that; “In the Fundamental Principles and Directives of State Policy, as set out in Chapter 2, Section 13 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1999 (as amended), the government has the responsibility to ensure that the education of Nigerian children be free and qualitative. ”

He also urged the government to address the numerous complaints of delays in the payment of pensions and unpaid tips to relatives of late elementary school teachers with delays in 1991 and to provide an improved social assistance package for teachers in public schools throughout the state.
