Shehu Sani Speaks On Sowore’s Arrest By DSS

A former senator representing Central Kaduna, Shehu Sani, condemned the arrest of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 elections, Omoyele Sowore, by agents of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Naija News had previously reported that Sowore, a pro-democratic activist, posted a tweet about his arrest at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, August 3.

Narrating his arrest in a social media post, the Sowore driver, who refused to reveal his identity, said his director was picked up from the “Gestapo” by the DSS.

According to the driver, “Around 1 a.m., gunmen knocked on the door. I noticed immediately that these blows were strange. And it didn’t open. I looked and saw men armed to the teeth, ”he wrote.

“They began to break through as armed thieves. But I knew they were DSS men, who knew very well the attention that RevolutionNow had attracted. Sowore wanted to open at first, but I immediately told him who they are. He retired and as if by magic, he was not in the room when he was forced into 8 of them.

“That was when he managed to tweet. By then, I had been beaten and handcuffed. They took my phones. An order to block all exits came from the leader when Sowore was not found inside. He was later arrested in the gym in a Gestapomanner and dragged after a small altercation. ”

Reacting in a statement on Saturday, Shehu Sani said the federal government should be able to involve dissenting voices if he can sit down for coffee with bandits in search of peace.

“The arrest of Omoyele Sowore is convicted without reservation,” he said. “Our democracy has become a block of ice that floats in warm waters. We are jumping towards totalitarianism.

“A nation that can sit and have a cup of coffee with bandits in search of peace should not have difficulty attracting dissenting voices.

“It is ironic that our nation walks in the sun and is allergic to shadows. The voices of dissent are the beats of democracy. May our jails not be filled with those who speak, but with those who kill.”

The former legislator accused the ruling elite of becoming intolerant of the truths that had once served as “moral cars that validated his rise to power.”

“The government should defeat Sowore by emitting a light more significant than his and not extinguishing his rays.
