Shehu Sani interfere on Buhari’s warning to CBN directive on issuance for food import

Shehu Sanni-The formal Senator of Kaduna Central senatorial district, has interfered to President Muhammadu Buhari’s concern on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to desist from providing foreign exchange for the importation of food from other countries.

Latest nigeria news had reported on Tuesday that Buhari, while hosting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors to Eid-el-Kabir lunch at his country home in Daura, said the foreign reserve will be conserved and utilized strictly for diversification of the economy and not for encouraging more dependence on foreign food import bills.

President Buhari said: “Don’t give a cent to anybody to import food into the country.’’ The President should noted that most states like Jigawa, Kebbi, Ogun, Kano, Ebonyi,  Lagos, and other have benefited from the Federal Government’s policy on agriculture with huge returns on rice farming, imploring more states to  join the track of the revolution to improve the state of feeding the nation.

“Having actualized a safety and secured food, and for physical security is also encouraging,’’ he said. Reacting in a tweet, Sani wrote, “the President’s directive to the CBN to stop giving out of Forex for food importation is the right step forward” as this will boost food production in Nigeria.

He said: “The President directive to the CBN to stop desist from giving out of Forex for food importation is the right step forward.

“It will increase food production in the nation. “preferably to do the proper handling over to Agric financing to the Bank of Agriculture and not CBN and get farmers and their properties secured from Kidnappers.”
