Revolution Now: Islamic group speaks on calls for change of Buhari govt

The concern for Muslim rights (MURIC) has opposed calls for the revolution in Nigeria and the change of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in a statement on Wednesday, said the proponents rushed to evaluate the current administration considering the number of years the opposition was in power.

Noting that MURIC had requested the release or reading of charges by Omoyele Sowore, leader of the Revolution Now movement, Akintola said that the conveners had lost contact with reality.

“How do you judge an administration that has yet to take off in its second term? What are the criteria that the #Revolutionnow group has used to reach its hardline position? He joked.

“This is an administration that was ambushed, strangled and sanitized since the first day of its inauguration on May 2015. Are you blind to history? Today was born from the bellies of yesterday.

‘Why can’t they see where this administration comes from? Have you forgotten how the eighth National Assembly (NASS) held the Buhari administration for the jugular for four good years?

“So, what has changed since then? How long has Buhari spent in his second term? It hasn’t even been removed. On Wednesday, August 21, it has just been arranged for the inauguration of the ministers. Why not allow this government to be established? Who is afraid of Buhari? Whose closet is full of skeletons? Why are they in such a hurry?

“Does it mean that both the leaders and supporters of #Revolutionnow were satisfied with the sarakitisization of Buhari’s first term? Where are they really in the war against corruption? Where were they when the eighth Senate delayed the budget for seven full months?

“We put it in # Revolution now that it has lost its priorities and has not been able to identify the real enemies of Nigeria. #Revolutionnow should have organized its uprising against the 8th NASS.

By the way, where were they during the general elections that brought Buhari to power? How did it go? Is it appropriate to change by force what the ballots refused to grant?

“Sowore is an excellent material for future politics, but it has to redirect its energy towards the reengineering of Nigerian youth for service, patriotism, and dignity, not to eliminate a democratically elected government.

“We recommend #Revolutionnow to be dismantled, dissolved in a political party and wait until 2023. Even a coup will not pay the group. The blows are no longer fashionable. Buhari’s regime is not the product of violent change. It evolved through the due democratic process.

“Therefore, any other process is illegal, illegal, illegitimate, and unconstitutional. Given Buhari’s excellent qualities and his many accomplished facts despite all the forecasts, we affirm clearly, unequivocally and categorically that the President has our vote of confidence. ”
