Presidency Finally Breaks Silence, Speaks On Sowore’s Arrest

The Presidency under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has said that agents of the State Services Department (DSS) arrested Sahara Reporters editor Omoyele Sowore due to a protest scheduled for Monday, August 5.

GISTOK understands that the Presidency said that the reason for Sowore’s arrest was to prevent him from catching fire in the cause of the protest.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant on social media issues, Lauretta Onochie made it known on the microblogging site, Twitter, while responding to a Tweet on Saturday.

GISTOK recalls that Sowore, the #RevolutionNow Protests convener, was picked up on Saturday morning by DSS agents in his department.

His arrest was confirmed when the presidential candidate posted a tweet of anguish at precisely 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, although an eyewitness said his phone was forcibly removed.

While reacting to Sowore’s arrest, Onochie, who tweeted his words and accompanied them with the image of a man on fire, wrote: “This is what DSS saved Sowore. (View image)

“With the conversations about catching fire, it is for the security agents, whose role is to safeguard lives and property, stop him from preventing himself from harming himself and getting the help he needs.”
