Oyedepo’s curse on Fulani herdsmen stirs reaction

A representative sample of Nigerians reacted to a statement by Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church, in which he cursed the alleged Fulani pastors responsible for the murder of a pastor in his church, Jeremiah Omolara.

GISTOK had reported that Omolara, a resident pastor of Living Faith Church in Romi New Extension, a suburb of the Kaduna metropolis, was recently killed by gunmen still unidentified.

But speaking on Day 2 of the Church’s Spiritual Emphasis Week on Thursday, Oyedepo cast curses on the murderers and their generations.

“Last Sunday night, for those of us who could have heard the news, one of our pastors was attacked by Fulani shepherds from Abuja to Kaduna.

“I want you to know that this is the last thing they will do (Amen) because I am going to take you now to release God’s curse on these assailants and all their sponsors. Except I’m not sent, their end has come. This corrupt system will crash. And I am speaking as a Prophet, not as a pastor, like someone walking in the street. This corrupt system that has no value for life, this perverse system: Fulani demons: in the name of Jesus, his end has come.

“Damn these Fulani shepherds, damn their generations, damn their sponsors in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ, we have cursed. ”

Oyedepo’s statement in which it rained curses on the murderous shepherds has provoked various reactions of Nigerians on social networks.

While some criticized the Bishop for cursing there’s murderers instead of showing mercy like God, others agreed with him. Below are some comments collected by Facebook’s GISTOK in reaction to the curses:

@Chekim” The same statements and oaths for more than 20 years, however, none has happened. Maybe, we should stop cursing because God is too merciful. ”

@Abedibb “Oyedepo uses the bible that is the pillar of Christianity. Jesus may not do the same, but that does not do it wrong. Elisha and Elijah did the worst to their enemies according to God’s instructions. So leave Jesus out of this. ”

@Elijahagunbiade “Who did you learn this from? Not from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When Jesus was on the cross suffering for the sins he did not commit, he did not curse anyone but asked the father to forgive them because they did not know what they were doing. ”

@Chimatempleservant “Whatever is happening to all clerics now, Nnamdi Kanu has been there without anyone altering or condemning him, except IPOB, so they must deal with the new level.”

@Udoka “We all prayed in Shiloh the other time saying we want him to go to the presidency, during Buhari’s first term, the last time I checked Buhari is still there, even preparing for the third term.

@Emeka Innocentatiant “Tithe pastor, because this is a pastor of living faith, that’s why you’re talking now, what about all the murders in recent years? you never say anything, money pastor. ”

@ChineduOnyeme “The heat in Nigeria is now affecting both the poor and wealth.”

@ Lincoln “Put curses with which mouth, na God be, abeg. Na wetin or na, so the Bible or Jesus tells you to do. ”
