Ohanaeze youths reveals true sponsors of Revolution Now Movement, issues strong warning to Buhari

The socio-cultural youth organization of the Igbo summit, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has reacted to the arrest and detention of the editor of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

The youth of Ohanaeze claimed that the protest was being sponsored by influential politicians in the country to cause civil disobedience and riots.

GISTOK had previously reported that Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the February 2019 elections, had called a nationwide protest organization against what he described as a corrupt government.

The protest that he called “Revolution Now” took place on Monday, August 5. However, his arrest by the staff of the Department of State Services, DSS, was announced in the early hours of Saturday.

The youth organization of Igbo, in a statement signed and made available on GISTOK on Sunday by Mazi okechukwu Isiguzoro, its General President, said:

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Council observed the statements of the main political actors in the country in the last days, and concluded that there is the possibility of a political trap and a conspiracy to catch President Buhari.

“There are [plots] to derail your government or lead the Presidency to negotiate with the opposition, possibly obtaining your presidential approval to proceed and convene a national dialogue for all ethnic nationalities in the country or implement the 2014 National Confab report.

“The arrest of the presidential candidate AAC Sowore is capable of doing more damage. The proposed” Revolution now “protests are a time bomb calculated by some influential personalities to bring civil disobedience and disturbances in the country.

“We urge the Federal Government to avoid the use of confrontation against the demonstrators of Revolution Now and avoid the Revolution through the unconditional release of Sowore.

“Sowore will become a hero if he remains detained since such violent protests are what aims to attract the sympathy of the international community and discredit the second tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and the security of the Igbos scattered throughout the country.” It is not guaranteed.
