Kidnapping: NOA gives stern warning to Nigerians on social media

Zubairu Galadima-Soba, director of the National Guidance Agency (NOA) in the state of Kaduna, warned Nigerians on Friday against the open display of wealth on social networks, so as not to attract kidnappers and other criminals.

Galadima-Soba, who advised in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Kaduna, said many kidnappers are attracted to people who spend generously at parties or ceremonies and also publish their lifestyle at social networks.

“Kidnapping is a social threat that has assumed a threatening dimension, particularly in the northern part of the country.

“Kidnapping is only attractive to those who are prone to crime and those who are openly greedy because anyone who participates in a productive and legitimate effort will not participate in crimes such as kidnapping,” he said.

The director said that Nigerians should be cautious and safety conscious so as not to be victims of kidnappers.

Galadima-Soba expressed concern that the majority of those involved in the kidnapping were young, and said they should be given appropriate punishment to deter other young people from being attracted to such criminality.

He advised young people to maintain ethical values ​​of hard work, self-esteem, and self-reliance when participating in entrepreneurship or learning skills that would sustain them in life.

The NOA director greeted the security agencies in their efforts to make the country safe for everyone and requested support from the general public to provide intelligence information to help security personnel address the threat effectively.

Galadima-Soba urged parents, religious and community leaders not to give in guiding young people to be responsible citizens who value hard work, self-reliance, and good neighborhood. (YAYA)
