Islamic group blows hot over invasion of Mosque, laments several attacks on Muslims

The concern of Muslim rights, MURIC, has reacted to the invasion of the Umar Bin Khattab mosque in Idi-Iroko in the local government of Ipokia in the state of Ogun by the traditional worshipers of Olosha Oba and Oro Cult.

It was said that the traditional faithful tried to kill the Imam, Alhaji Abdul Waliy Abdul Azeez Abata during the incident that occurred on Saturday, July 27, 2019, during ’Zuhr’s prayer in the afternoon, but he escaped.\

The widely reported incident says that they, therefore, threw stones at the Imam and his congregation when their heels were stepped on. After that, they invaded the mosque and damaged equipment worth millions of naira.

In a statement to GISTOK on Friday, MURIC condemned the invasion and described it as bold, provocative, and primitive.

The statement signed by the Group Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, added: “We are confused by this invasion. Places of worship should be considered sacred.

This attack is bold, provocative, and primitive. It is impunity on the highest pedestal. We denounce it. In the strongest terms and we demand justice. The culprits must be rescued and treated according to the laws of the land.

“Not only that, the Umar Bin Khattab mosque must be repaired, all the broken equipment must be replaced, and the hospital bills of all injured Muslims must be paid or fully reimbursed.

We want the perpetrators to be prosecuted in court. Someone should be responsible for this if the Ogun State Government (OGSG) wants peaceful coexistence.
