IGP orders manhunt for suspected killers of Enugu clergy, directs rescue of kidnapped RCCG pastors

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Friday ordered a massive hunt for the assassins of the Reverend Father Paul Offu, a Catholic priest in charge of the Catholic Church of St. James the Greater Ugbawka Parish in Enugu State.

Crack detectives have also been deployed from the IGP Intelligence Response Unit (IRT), the forensic and homicide sections of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Force (FCID) in the state of Enugu.

The deployed teams were directed to complement the Command in their investigations into the unfortunate incident. FPRO, Frank Mba said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

Also, Mba added that the AIG in charge of the Zone 9 headquarters had been directed to mobilize more personnel units of the Mobile Police Force (PMF) to black spots in the state of Enugu.

Similarly, operations to rescue RCCG pastors who were kidnapped along the J3 area of ​​Ogbere on their way to Lagos from the eastern part of the country have been intensified.

Mba also said that the Force’s tactical and operational assets had been deployed with the Police Commissioner, the Ogun State Command assuming the leading role in search and rescue operations.

However, the PGI who condemned the murder of the Catholic priest and the kidnapping of the clergy also asked for calm and assured that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.

Therefore, he ordered the public to make use of reliable police information to help detain criminals.
