Gov. Ortom speaks as gunmen attack Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Akabe

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday blamed the assault on the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe by shooters along Lafia – Abuja street.

Obscure shooters had assaulted the caravan of Akabe and in the process executed three police officers and a nonmilitary personnel.

Akabe was headed to Abuja on an official commitment when his caravan kept running into the burglars who were working a couple of kilometers from Akwanga at about 6 pm, yesterday.

Responding, Ortom portrayed the assault which brought about the passing of some security men as “lamentable and dismal.”

A pithy proclamation by Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, stated: “Senator Ortom identifies with the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor and individuals from his escort and implores God to support groups of the individuals who lost their lives in the episode.”
