Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been confirmed as the following Governor of Lagos State. He replaces Akinwunmi Ambode, who just burned through one residency and lost amid the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. Sanwo-Olu made the vow of office prior today, as led by the Chief Judge of the State, with his relatives remaining close by.
The following is the full content of the debut address by the new Governor of Lagos State:
By the finesse of Almighty God and Your votes, I remain before you today as your Governor.
This day denotes the start of another section in our adventure to significance. Today, I request that you go along with me on this voyage to stir a Greater Lagos.
When we discuss a Greater Lagos, we talk not void words. It is a profound and significant attestation we mean. We expect to leave a mark on the world by making for ourselves and our kids a superior future. In this manner, on this day, on this valuable land, we call our home, let us stand together in the very essence of history.
Give us a chance to promise to ourselves, and to descendants that we will not merely dream of a Greater Lagos. Give us a chance to concur this day that we will on the whole ascent up to manufacture the Lagos we had always wanted.
We need not be disheartened by the difficulties that might be obvious. Today is an open door for us to move forward as we continued looking for a Greater Lagos.
It is conceivable!
Nobody ought to ever think little of the soul of Lagos and the flexibility of its kin. Indeed, difficult issues may go up against us, yet we will likewise stand up to them. Each item will lose its intensity to our solidarity.
In this manner, Lagosians, in this new part of our lives, we need not cry or fuss. We are joined by our regular motivation behind a Greater Lagos and satisfying future.
Descendants have allowed us this day to initiate our voyage to significance. We have to imagine the brilliant end of cooperating, eagerly and committedly, towards accomplishing a Lagos we had always wanted. By our individual and aggregate endeavors and the Grace of God, these fantasies will turn into a reality.
In Lagos State, our story has been of accomplishments and accomplishments. Since 1999, our convention of effective administration has separate Lagos and reinforced individuals’ faith in our belief system.
What’s more, that is the very reason I remain before you on this memorable day as your Governor. While we praise the triumph of effective administration and big government, tomorrow we should be prepared to stay alert and be completely careful.
Big government and effective administration hold just to the degree that we ensure and support them. While Lagos flashes as a guide of dynamic and quality administration, our country presently experiences a noteworthy fight to build up dynamic and just administration.
Lagos should again rise and help lead this country to full advancement and to a closer acknowledgment of the significance that exists inside all Nigerians.
This introduction symbolizes such an enlivening.
Today, I remain before you like your senator, yet additionally as your companion, sibling; the neighbor, and your hireling. I stay here to ask that you go along with me to content and form this more prominent Lagos with the imagination of our psyches.
Let the resourcefulness of our hands, the sweat of our work, and the empathy that dwells in our souls be focused on this shared objective.
We are nevertheless, people. Our time on this planet is limited, and will one day pass. Sooner or later, we will all enter the book of history. This is unavoidable.
Be that as it may, we can pick how we stroll into history. Will we do as such as bosses of our destiny, or as captives to things that look to smother us?
At the point when the historical backdrop of our minute is composed, let it not be told in tears of annihilation, instead of given it a chance to reverberate with the song of praise of aggregate triumph.
Give our time a chance to be announced in the brilliant festival of a state, and of a people who remained in solidarity of direction to make their home a Greater one.
In this, we permanently cling to the convention of edified government set by the individuals who preceded us. We owe a massive obligation of appreciation to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN.
Asiwaju drove the group that outlined advancement; the two organizations loyally executed that monetary diagram and built up the structures and establishments of effective administration all the while.
Senator Akinwunmi Ambode pushed forward extraordinarily. His endeavors and activities will be appropriately recollected. As your Governor, I know entirely well my identity, since I know where I am from. All the more significantly, I know where I am going.
I have been a piece of this dynamic voyage since its very commencement. I know direct the deliberate endeavors that went into arranging such a large number of the developments we currently observe and appreciate.
It will be my business to proceed with that procedure by refining and idealizing the establishment laid by the first organizations. In such a manner, I will always stay faithful to the yearnings of the general population and to the formative outline that has brought such a significant amount of progress to our dear state.
The Babajide Sanwo-Olu you see today will not change and attempt to move toward becoming something I am most certainly not. My supplication is just that I develop and improve as your Governor to execute great strategies and bring the flourishing you merit.
On this day, I address the youthful and old, Christian and Muslim, the individuals who follow their soonest family back to this land, and to the individuals who came a week ago.
I address poor people and to the rich. I send the Danfo driver as much with regards to the mogul, to the organic product seller and much with regards to the land titan.
I address the boss and representative, and I discuss the instructor and understudy, I address my mother and father. The standard administration just as the private part – We are all Lagosians.
I state to all of you let us investigate how we can best build up an amicability of premiums and stay away from the developing propensity to concentrate on those things that separate and gap one Lagosian from another.
By dint of Providence, this little tract of land converged and encompassed by conduits and tidal ponds has turned out to be home to around 22 million individuals, with their different dreams and goals.
In addition to the fact that logos is home to such vast numbers of individuals and their desires, it is likewise the impetus of commercial development for a lot of Nigeria.
The world outside considers Lagos to be Nigeria. We are Nigeria’s way to the worldwide economy and the global economy’s way to Nigeria.
For whatever length of time that Lagos prospers, Nigeria has more than a reasonable opportunity to appreciate the advancement and development required for its meriting populace. On the off chance that Lagos flounders, Nigeria additionally bumbles.
The truth of the indispensable job we play in Nigeria’s rising to national enormity combined with the undiscovered possibilities we hold to deliver considerably more prominent riches to improve the living states of our kin are the things that make Lagos a superb spot.
These critical parts of our present reality, and our quick future offer on my organization a significant obligation and me.
I will likely propel the social and monetary advancement of this state and its kin; paying little respect to your confidence, social class, or your starting point of birth.
For whatever length of time that you receive the soul of Lagos, Lagos thus will embrace you.
As I said in my acknowledgment discourse, I am excessively centered around pushing Lagos ahead to give doubt to where an individual may have originated from. For whatever length of time that you are animated by the soul of accomplishment, participation, and resistance, at that point, you are Lagosian. This is my aphorism.
This is how I see our home, and this is the way I will run my legislature. I will choose the best and most qualified individuals to hold positions in our administration.
My entryway will stay open to all. I will look for the guidance of the educated, the shrewd, and the normal Lagosian, for in the regular man lives much intelligence and reasonableness of thought.
While one can’t resist the opportunity to hear the caring expressions of companions, I should give significantly nearer consideration to the voice of my pundits.
In productive analysis lies the seeds of progress. In light of these things, let me rapidly layout my objectives for a Greater Lagos.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and I are determined in our longing to hand down to our successors a far Greater Lagos than the one we acquired today.
Also, to do as such, we have figured a brief system that typifies our aggregate vision for the state and guarantees that our endeavor stays centered and our correspondence stays clear as we try to assemble a Greater Lagos we would all be able to be glad to call home.
The system, as our six (6) Pillars of Development Agenda, is caught by the abbreviation, “T.H.E.M.E.S, which I will quickly discuss:
T – Traffic Management and Transportation
Here, we should act with desperation to execute a vehicle masterplan that will completely coordinate street, rail, and water transportation into a multi-modular transport framework that makes driving simple for Lagosians.
We should likewise guarantee consistency with all traffic standards and guidelines on our streets.
H – Health and Environment
Since we know the centrality of a perfect domain in preventive social insurance, we have an ethical obligation to give essential medicinal services to our kin, particularly the individuals who can’t bear the cost of it. Under our exhaustive wellbeing program, we will put unique accentuation on maternal medicinal services, intestinal sickness, and water-borne infections.
We will likewise concentrate on sanitation and waste administration, by guaranteeing that our seepage frameworks are useful and kept clean.
E-Education and Technology
We will put resources into the training of our kids and youthful grown-ups. By expanding the budgetary distribution to instruction, this administration will enable instructors in each nearby government and fortify their ability to convey quality training to our youngsters.
The new instructive foundation will develop a learning domain that readies our kids for another world that requests innovativeness, instinct, and basic reasoning. We will guarantee innovation is incorporated into our school educational modules and engage our y

Declare state of emergency on education – CLO tells Gov Emmanuel
The Civil Liberties Organization, a chapter of the state of Akwa Ibom, has asked Governor Udom Emmanuel to declare a state of emergency in the state’s education sector.
The president of CLO in the state, Franklyn Isong, said this in his office in Uyo, the state capital while informing journalists as part of activities to commemorate World Teachers’ Day with the theme “Young teachers: the future of the profession.”
He said the need became necessary to stop the serious decomposition of infrastructure and insecurity in state public schools.
Isong criticized the content of the education presentation recently organized by the state government, describing it as “urbanized” and not with the intention of capturing the deep crisis that was shaking the sector in the state.
He said: “It is worrisome and sad that most public schools in some communities in Akwa Ibom state are in ruins, insecure and left to the destiny of the communities without government attention.
“All that is needed is for the Governor to take bold steps by declaring a state of emergency in the education sector to build more classroom blocks in rural and urban schools, provide good infrastructure such as science equipment, libraries, laboratories, as well as review the education curriculum to ensure a better and safe future for children in the state of Akwa Ibom. ”
He thanked the state government for tameing the right to basic education of the Akwa Ibom child in free and compulsory education and urged the state government to do what is necessary.
“The right to basic education of all Nigerian children, as enshrined in the Child Rights Act of 2003 in Article 15 (1), had been tamed under the Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Act, to ensure that every child in the State of Akwa Ibom the right to compulsory, free and qualitative basic education. ”

We will attack DSTV, MTN, Shoprite, Stanbic IBTC, others if they don’t leave Nigeria – Yoruba youths
After the xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and Nigerian companies in South Africa, the Oodua Youth Coalition, OYC, has granted South African companies and businesses seven ultimata to leave Nigeria.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that the group president, Oluyi Akintade Tayo, the refusal of the interested parties to give in to the notice of resignation will mean death.
While expressing disappointment at the attitude of South Africans against Nigerians living and working in South Africa, particularly what they described as the continued silence of the South African government on development, the group emphasized that during the apartheid era, which was the time Difficult of In the rainbow country, Nigeria was firm with them.
The statement says: “Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC), the most crucial youth group in Nigeria that projects and protects the Yoruba nation in the country, is sad and angry because South Africans, with the support of the country’s authorities, are coordinating the looting and burning of Nigerian businesses and mutilations and murders of our brothers and fathers on earth.
“It is unfortunate that South Africa, which under the apartheid regime had the support and solidarity of the Nigerians and the government while the white supremacists reigned supreme, is now turning to inflict physical and psychological pain and injury to the people whose parents committed great harm.” part of wages and profits and the community to end the apartheid reign.
“The circulating video in which Mr. Bongani Mkongi, the Vice Minister of Police of South Africa, defended the attacks against Nigerians and other Africans confirmed our previous fear and doubts about the guilt of the South African authorities. It is disconcerting that the country whose former leader, the late Nelson Mandela, recognized Nigeria’s efforts to elevate the South African-led government, is expelling other Africans, mostly Nigerians, energetically and with shame.
“We have tolerated the excesses of these South Africans whose businesses have prospered in Nigeria without any physical and psychological attack. For months, the coalition has written several letters to the South African consulate in Nigeria requesting meetings to chart a way forward and find a lasting solution for these unfortunate and barbaric incidents that have still been ignored or have run into a brick wall.
“OYC, after an emergency meeting, has concluded plans to, as a matter of urgency, attack all South African companies and facilities in Nigeria, especially in the southwest region of the country. DSTV, MTN, SHOPRITE, STANBIC IBTC, and other outlets are our goals.
“Therefore, we give these South African companies a maximum of seven days to leave Nigeria or forget them, since our coalition, with other groups and comrades throughout the country, will attack them and burn them to ashes,” reads the notice.
