FG Reveal Why they are not build more prisons in Nigeria

Abdulrahman Dambazau, the Minister of Interior, has clarified why the Federal Government is putting resources into the structure of detainment facilities the nation over.

Dambazau talked at the charging of individual ventures and recently obtained vehicles at the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) base camp in Abuja on Friday.

As indicated by him, the vast majority of the current detainment facilities in the nation were over a century and should have been supplanted.

“We are building jails, yet we are not expanding the number of penitentiaries,” he said.

“Undoubtedly, we are diminishing it. The greater part of our detainment facilities is more than ancient. What we are doing is to construct new ones that fulfill the worldwide guideline.”

He said the new bearing of the present organization was to concentrate on the people engaged with criminal acts and not merely the wrongdoing, saying it was the best way to change guilty parties.

“We have moved concentration from the wrongdoing to the hoodlums. We are not looking for retribution for the way that the guilty party is human and can transform,” he said.

He asked the NPS to take significant consideration of the vehicles and different tasks executed by the legislature.

Dambazau further expressed that there would be more enhancements in the Service when the Nigerian Prisons and Correctional Service bill is at long last complemented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.
