EFCC raids Akinwunmi Ambode’s residence

According to reports, the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the Epe residence of former Lagos state governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday.

EFCC spokesman Tony Orilade, who confirmed this to GISTOK, denied they were in Ambode’s residence in a raid, explaining that they are only there for an investigation.

“It is not true, and we are not attacking. The investigation is ongoing regarding the request we have, that is why we are here,” he said.

GISTOK recalls that Judge Chuka Obiozor of the Federal Superior Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, had ordered on Tuesday the freezing of the sum of N9.9 billion belonging to the Lagos state government but linked to former Governor Ambode.
