DSS confirms arrest of Sowore, gives reason

The State Department of Services (DSS) confirmed Sunday that its agents arrested Omoyele Sowore.

GISTOK had reported that Sowore, the convenor of the planned Revolution Now protest against the lousy government, was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.

The political activist gave the alarm in a tweet of anguish precisely at 1:25 am that says: “DSS invades the Sowore department.”

DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday afternoon, said Sowore was arrested because he called for a revolution in Nigeria, reports The Nation.

The spokesman said the secret police were “aware” of the information that Sowore had been in contact with foreign actors to destabilize Nigeria.

However, the DSS official refused to give details about where Sowore was and when he would be prosecuted in court.
