Culture central to Nigeria’s unity –Oba of Benin

Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has complimented the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Olusegun Runsewe, on his endeavors towards showcasing and advancing Nigeria’s rich social legacy.

The Oba, who gave the recognition in his royal residence while underwriting the National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST), planned to hold in Benin from October 19 to 26, said culture is vital to the solidarity and tranquility of Nigeria.

Communicating delight that the 2019 NAFEST is concurring with his fourth commemoration on the honored position, the Oba said the celebration would be utilized as a stage to stamp the commemoration.

While guaranteeing that the royal residence would work with NCAC in making NAFEST 2019 is a triumph, the Oba included that Runsewe’s enthusiasm for the advancement and protection of Nigeria’s way of life must be upheld and supported by all.

The Oba said thanks to the NCAC supervisor for giving Edo State the facilitating right and for enrolling the coordinated effort of the royal residence.

“Words are insufficient to express my thankfulness; I am basically overpowered,” the ruler said.

Prior, Runsewe educated the Oba that the reason for his visit was to brief him about the celebration and get his imperial gift.

He said NAFEST, additionally called the ‘Solidarity Forum’ was advanced in 1970 by General Yakubu Gowon’s organization as a stage for post-common war national compromise.
