Confusion as baby’s corpse goes missing in Ondo mortuary

The Ondo State Police Command said on Saturday that it had started examination concerning the situation encompassing the missing of a dead infant in the funeral home of the Ondo Specialist Hospital, Akure, the state capital.

It was assembled that the infant and his mom were conveyed dead to the medical clinic from the police emergency clinic, Akure and their remaining parts saved at the funeral home of the administration possessed clinic on Wednesday.

A source disclosed to PUNCH the perished passed on amid work at the police medical clinic. In any case, the group of the expired on getting to the clinic, on Saturday, to take the bodies for internment, met just the remaining parts of the mother while the shape of the child was absent.

The source stated, “When the group of the perished got to the medical clinic morgue on Saturday to gather the remaining parts of the dead, they just observed the body of the mother and the placenta however they couldn’t discover the infant. The morgue chaperons couldn’t clarify how it occurred.”

The source included that relatives of the perished nearly caused disarray on the emergency clinic premises following the episode. They later detailed the issue at the police headquarters.

The representative for the police in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, affirmed the episode, saying the emergency clinic authorities would be welcomed for addressing.

He noticed that no one had yet been captured over the episode as of the season of this report.

“We have not made any capture for the time being but rather we have initiated examination concerning the issue. We will welcome the specialists of the emergency clinic, particularly those working at the funeral home segment,” Joseph expressed.
