CCT okays arraignment of Speaker and four others

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) said the Speaker of Bayelsa House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson and four other serving and former staff of the get together would be summoned in the court on May 22.

Mr. Ibraheem Al-Hassan, the council’s Head, Press, and Public Relations uncovered this in an announcement made accessible to reporters on Tuesday in Abuja.

Those to be charged close by the Speaker are the previous Clerk of getting together, Aaron Timiye and former Accountant, Thomas Tamaraodubo, NAN reports

Others are Owudogu Edward serving Clerk, of the get-together and Koroye Stephen, serving bookkeeper of the get together.

Al-Hassan said the supposed offenses verged on gross unfortunate behavior and maltreatment of office.

“Executive Code of Conduct Tribunal Justice Danladi Y. Umar has endorsed May 22 for the beginning of preliminary against serving Speaker and four others.

“The offenses are claimed mishandled of office against Benson, the Speaker Bayelsa state House of Assembly.

“This was contained in a reporter from Code of Conduct Bureau, routed to Chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal to initiate preliminary, dated April 30, together with marked by the agents of Code of Conduct Bureau: Musa Usman and Fatima Ahmed,” he said.

The charge was conveyed to the council under Section 24 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

As indicated by the charge, the supposed activities of the litigants are in opposition to passage 9 of the fifth timetable, section 1 of 1999.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offenses are punishable under passage 18 (1) and (2) of a similar constitution, and Sections 13 and 23 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act CAP C15 LFN 2004.
