Buhari to assign portfolios to ministers-designate on Wednesday

President Muhammadu Buhari will assign portfolios to the new members of his cabinet on Wednesday. This was confirmed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Advertising, Femi Adesina, today in Abuja.

Buhari and the appointed ministers engaged in a two-day retreat, which ended on Tuesday.

The second and final day of the retreat began with a presentation on the Processes and Procedures of the Cabinet, by the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha.

Next, the president of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, made a presentation on the alignment of government policies with the ideology, manifesto, and campaign promises of the ruling party.

“Subsequent presentations referred to budgeting, civil service reforms, public procurement, relations between ministers and permanent secretaries, and effective partnerships between government, legislature, and state governments,” said Adesina.

Adesina also revealed that the designated ministers would take an oath on August 21 at the State House, after which the president would assign them portfolios.

“After the swearing-in, each minister will receive a mandate, based on the ministry assigned, and that will explain the priorities, results, and deadlines.

“Also, a solid monitoring and evaluation framework will be established to track the implementation of all policies and programs over the next four years,” he said.
