Buhari sends delegation to family of DCP Umar killed during Shiites’ protest

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday sent a delegation of 3 men to condole to the family of the DCP Usman Umar, who died during a confrontation between the police and the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), in Abuja.

Umar, before his death, was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command, reports NAN.

The three-person delegation includes the President’s Chief of Protocol, Lawal Kazuare; the Main Special Assistant to the President of Media and Advertising, Malam Garba Shehu, and the Special Assistant to Domestic Affairs of the President, Alhaji Sarki Abba.

The delegation was received by Usman Bell, elder brother of the deceased, who is also a police commissioner, as well as the widow of the late Umar, Basrah.

GISTOK informs that, apart from Umar, Precious Owolabi, a member of the NYSC who serves for Channels Television in Abuja, also died in the violence. A lost bullet hit Owolabi and then died in the hospital.
