Boko Haram: 5 civilians killed, others injured as soldiers, ISWAP clash in Borno

Residents of the Monguno local government area, in the state of Borno, in the northeast region, said Tuesday that Boko Haram’s attack, Monday night, at around 10:25 p.m. .

Mohammed Muktar, a resident, told GISTOK that the situation in Monguno is now calm, but there were restrictions on movement somewhere in the city.

According to him, “There have been several attempts by Boko Haram to take over Monguno since the beginning of this year. But last night the attack was deadly. We do not know how many soldiers or Boko Haram were killed, however, the lost bullets killed five civilians and wounded many others. It was very bad. Most of us have just returned from hiding. ”

A source within the security operation in Monguno told our correspondent that the attackers arrived in the village of Kuya to attack the location of the soldiers in Charlie1 near the stadium.

“We fight them all night and we repel them. I am not in a position to talk about casualties, but as I always said, this is not a game and casualties will surely come at the end of a battle like this. We count on your prayers while we risk our lives. If we lose comrades in a fight, we still know that we will not die in vain, but so that innocent people can have peace, ”said our source.

Local hunters and members of the civil joint task force in Monguno, who spoke by telephone with DAILY POST, said the attack was the deadliest in recent times.

Abdulkadir Musa, a member of the local vigilante, told DAILY POST that: “I cannot give you the details because the security forces are still chasing the combatants and bodies of Boko Haram are still gathering.” We have found five among the civilians, but the soldiers have evacuated theirs and that of the Boko Haram fighters who killed. ”
