Bauchi Assembly crisis ends as Damina, 16 others get sworn-in

The leadership crisis that shook the Chamber of the Bauchi State Assembly was resolved after the inauguration of 17 members led by former President Kawuwa Shehu Damina (Darazo).

Damina and her faction took an oath on Friday at 8:30 pm in a special session chaired by Vice President Danlami Ahmed Kawule (Zungur Galambi).

The session was witnessed by the state governor, Bala Mohammed, his vice senator Baba Tella, and other senior government officials.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the inauguration of the 17 new members, Governor Mohammed praised the members for closing ranks and resolving their differences.

The governor described the friendly solution of the leadership crisis in the state assembly as “a good development for democracy.”
