Alleged Fraud: ICPC Seals Off Country Home Of Lawmaker

The Independent Commission for Corrupt Practices and other related crimes (ICPC) in the state of Enugu has sealed the facilities of a federal legislator from the Senatorial North Zone of Enugu in the country.

A statement made on Friday by the Head of the Public Lighting and Education Unit of the commission, Suleiman Godwin, said the action followed an alleged plan by the legislator to save items acquired for the intervention of the constituency in the area.

Godwin said that articles of more than N100 million were involved in the wrong treatment.

The statement said in part: “Operators of the ICPC, the Enugu office has tracked the state items purchased for intervention in the area to the home of a prominent politician in the Uzo Uwani local government area.

“The discovery followed up on the ICPC constituency projects as directed by the president of the commission. “Among the seized items are 51 tricycles, 228 motorcycles, 203 grinders, and five electricity transformers.

“The place where the items were hidden has been sealed by the ICPC,” he said. Godwin said the commission had begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
