​NUC: FG appoints Executive Secretaries

The National Commission of Universities (NUC) has appointed Dr. Suleiman Ramon-Yusuf as Deputy Executive Secretary (Academic) and Dr. Kidado Kumo as Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration).

The weekly commission newsletter made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday announced the appointments.

The appointment that entered into force on June 20 was approved by the NUC Governing Board following the nominations of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed.

Before his appointment as Deputy Executive Secretary (Academic), Ramon-Yusuf was Director of Research, Innovation and Information Technology in the Commission, a position he has held since 2017.

Ramon-Yusuf has a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science in Environmental Toxicology, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Toxicology.

He also received specialized training in quality assurance, open education, distance learning and E-learning with the International Institute for International Planning of UNESCO in Paris and the Institute of Sociocultural Studies of the University of Kassel, Witzenhausen, Germany.

Ramon-Yusuf participated in the university staff development program in 2002 and obtained a postgraduate certificate in quality assurance and curriculum development.

Kumo, until his appointment, was the Director of Academic Planning for the commission.

He has a bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed) in Islamic studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a master’s degree in education (M.Ed) in educational psychology and a doctorate in the same field.

Kumo began his career on the commission as Deputy Director of Research in 1997 and rose to become Deputy Director in 2009.

He was appointed Director of the Office of the Executive Secretary in 2013 since he held until his redistribution in the Department of Academic Standards in 2014.
